Description
Nose: Sweet and juicy: new leather, fig, treacle, cinnamon, manuka honey, cocoa beans, apple wood and aromatic smoke.
Palate: A plummy sweetness, sultana cake, singed heather and lavender are balanced by toasted marshmallow and creamy vanilla. Dry wood smoke permeates all.
Finish: A lingering rich sweetness, possibly fudge, combines with wood smoke and some dark chocolate.
Overall: A rather rewarding dram, with a pleasing rich fruitiness and pronounced, but not overwhelming, smoky notes. Definitely something Id recommend to those who enjoy things like Talisker Port Ruighe, and other port-finished peated whiskies. A solid expansion of Ardmores portfolio.
