Tasting and Review by Daniel & Rex in the Whisk(e)y Vault
Bushmills Black Bush has an intriguing name and an intriguing flavour. Right from the pour, you’ll notice the dark colouring’ a result of maturing for up to seven years in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks and sweet bourbon barrels. As for the taste’ this 8% malt premium whiskey floats across the tongue to deliver dark’ velvety fruity notes right through to the back of your throat.”
TASTING NOTES
Rich and enticing on the nose, with sweet Sherry, characteristic Irish whiskey oiliness, honey and blackcurrants. The palate is a complex blend of sweet and more austere, slightly metallic, notes; berries and restrained cinnamon spice.
Matured in Sherry Casks, a uniquely high proportion of 80% malt whiskey, with 20% of a sweet, batch-distilled grain whiskey
Nose: Big, full rich fruitcake aroma. Intense sherry sweetness, developing into dried fruit/raisin/Christmas cake notes.
Palate: Soft, silky texture with a nutty character.
Finish: A lingering sweetness. A remarkable balance between the power from Sherry-seasoned casks and the smoothness of the spirit
