Tasting and Review by Daniel & Rex in the Whisk(e)y Vault
The home of the Glenlivet was the very first Highland distillery to be licensed to make Scottish whisky in 1824.
Ever since then Glenlivet has been distilled and matured with loving care, never leaving its old oak casks until it is at least twelve years old, the Glenlivet with its light, subtle bouquet and a mellow, rounded flavour is a single malt whisky of great elegance.
Well-balanced and fruity with strong pineapple notes
Fruity and summer-like fragrances
Creamy and smooth with marzipan and fresh hazelnuts finish
Bright and lively gold colour
Maturation in American oak imparts vanilla notes and gives the whisky its distinct smoothness
2015 Silver Outstanding Medal Winner – International Wine & Spirits Competition
IWSC Awards Tasting Note: Attractive but light nose with ripe pear followed by a wave of malt backed by gentle oak. Floral backing with violets and lavender. Fine entry with smooth flow and fine texture. The ripe fruit takes hold in the mouth and some sweet vanilla makes itself known. Well balanced and firmly held by fine oak.
