Description
With an amber colour, the nose is rich and fruity – Victoria plums, greengages, perhaps dried orange peel – with some butterscotch or rum toffee and a thread of smoke behind.
With water, appropriately, maritime characteristics and smokiness of an unstruck match emerge. The palate is sweet up front, then more assertive, with a whiff of smoke.
The overall effect is warming.
Talisker is a full bodied and smoky, Island whisky that is pleasant and smooth with notes of toffee and a slight mintiness.
The characteristic chilli ‘catch’ in the finish is subtly present in the aftertaste.
Talisker is the most awarded single malt whisky.

IWSC Awards Tasting Note: There’s a slight perfume of exotic candles in the aroma, with the smoothness of butter helping it on its way. At the finish, it is again that exotic perfume that lingers.
