Description and review by Daniel & Rex in the Whisk(e)y Vault
Tin Cup Whiskey started out as a hobby for American Jess Graber. It is made in the Colorado hills and comes in an unusual hexagonal shaped bottle with a tin cup as the cap, which doubles up as a drinking vestal. Made to an exact mash bill with a higher than normal rye content, 64% corn, 32% Rye and 4% malt. This is then aged in new charred white oak barrels, with charred staves and charred ends. It is a blend of 4 and 5 year old whiskey and cut with mountain water to 42% vol. The flavour is big and bold with spicy top notes, but smooth and mellow.
TIN CUP is a new American Whiskey founded by distilling veteran Jess Graber and bottled in Denver, Colorado. TIN CUP is Jess’s take on a Classic American Whiskey, with a Bourbon style profile, but with a more powerful and spicy flavour
TIN CUP has a high rye mash bill, so it’s got great sprice and pepper, balanced out with sweeter notes from Bourbon
Made using Mid-Western grains, aged in new charred American Oak barrels, TIN CUP is cut with Rocky Mountain water.
The name is a nod to Colorado’s first whiskey drinkers – the miners that came through looking for gold and drank their whiskey from tin cups.
